Update Saturday April 13 Annual Friends group Meeting Cancelled-

Hello Friends of South Shore Park,
Looking forward to seeing you at our meeting tonight.
Thursday April 11 at 7:00 pm in the Pavilion.

In case we don’t see you tonight,
here is an announcement concerning the Friends group event scheduled for April 13th.

As always, thank you for your support and interest in out park.

Subject: Cancelled- Annual Friends group Meeting

Hello Friends Group Leaders,

It is with great regret that The Park People have encountered unforeseen circumstances that have resulted in the cancellation of our Annual Friends Group Gathering originally scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 13th at Dineen Park.

Please pass this information on to your members so they do not make the trip to Dineen Park on Saturday only to find an empty hall.

We would love to see you all and catch up on what your groups are up to this coming spring, summer and fall so we will re-schedule for a date during mid to late May. At this time we are expecting it will be held on a week night so liquid refreshments will be served! An invitation will be sent out as soon as we have secured a park building in a centralized location.

We are truly sorry if you have made changes to your normal schedule in order to attend.

Jim

Friends Group Gathering

Where: Dineen Park Pavilion, 6601 W. Vienna, Milwaukee
When: Saturday, April 13th, 10am – Noon

*Parking is available in close proximity to the pavilion off of Vienna*

This year we have two guest speakers:

  • Katie Williams, member of the South Shore Park Watch and Farmers Market committee, will share her findings on the impact of friends groups. Katie did her Masters Thesis on friends groups a few years ago and is now expanding her research through a new extended study.
  • Kim Caviggiola, Co-chair of Doctors Park Friends, will share her groups methods and practices employed during their creation of a draft “Park Restoration Plan”. The Restoration Plan has been in the works nearly since the group started two years ago. The 100 page plan is quite impressive!

After the speakers, we will take a short break (coffee, juice and snacks provided) and then head in to a round-robin of small groups to discuss the topics of fundraising, relationships within the park and community and volunteerism. A staff member from Volunteer Milwaukee will be on hand to assist in the discussion of volunteers.

We hope to see you there and ask that you send this invite out to all of your members. Please RSVP so we know what to anticipate for snacks at: jim or by calling 414-273-7275.
