The Bay View Bash cuts new ground

Milwaukee, WI: Three Local Not-for-Profit
Recipients To Be Awarded $6,000 in Grant Monies from the 2010 Bay View Bash

The Bay View Bash is pleased to award $6,000 in
Grant Monies from its 2010 annual street festival
to benefit three Milwaukee not-for-profit
organizations. The Bay View Bash awards will be
presented on February 17, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., at
Sven’s Coffee Shop, 2699 South Kinnickinnic
Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53207. Each awardee will receive $2,000.

Vic Thomas, Vice President of the Bay View Bash
and its organizing entity, the Bay View Community
Fund, stated, “In these challenging economic
times, we are pleased and proud to be able to
support our local not-for-profit entities by
providing them with grant monies to help promote
their goals. The Bay View Bash is a wonderful
coup d’etat and a unique opportunity for our
neighbors, sponsors, vendors, and guests to be
able to celebrate in the streets of Bay View,
knowing that their dollars will be invested back
into the community in which we all live, work, and play.”

The 2010 Bay View Bash grant recipients are:

· The South Shore Park Watch. Funds will
assist with the park watch’s effort to develop a
long-term comprehensive plan to reverse damage
and prevent further erosion to the South Shore Park bluff.
·
· The Milwaukee Composting Community
Network. Funds will be used for program expansion
to provide gardens, a community compost, and
continuing the process for composting food and
paper waste at the Bay View Bash in 2011.
·
· Tru Skool. Funds will be used to further
Tru Skool’s mission to use cultural arts to
educate and empower youth from different
backgrounds to become positive leaders for social
change. Tru Skool will be a featured nonprofit at
Bay View Bash 2011 and will demonstrate its
unique leadership and artistic skills.
·
According to Thomas, “All of the organizations
who submitted proposals for the 2010 grant monies
were worthy applicants, which made it very
difficult to select our final grant recipients.
We look forward to seeing how these three vital
organizations can put our local dollars back to
work for the betterment of Milwaukee.”

The Bay View Community Fund (Bash) will sponsor
the 8th annual Bay View Bash on September 17, 2011.
