New Exercise Equipment at South Shore Park

Dear Fellow Park Watchers and Neighborhood Groups,

I have received a few inquiries on this newly installed equipment at South Shore Park. Unfortunately, I was not informed prior to its installation, but I have requested a memo on the matter and I am now forwarding it to you for your information. Our office has received some positive feedback from park users on the new equipment. I am also happy to see that NML sponsored the project and appreciate the investment in our neighborhood park. Please help me spread this information to your members.

Happy Holidays!!

Subject: Helios Multigym Exercise Equipment
In an effort to continue to improve opportunities for park users to exercise and work out at
Milwaukee County Parks, the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture is in the process of
installing seven Helios Multigym Units in parks throughout Milwaukee County. Following the
success of the initial Helios Multigym installation along the lakefront near the Northpoint Snack
Bar, the County has begun to install similar units at Cannon, Humboldt, Johnsons, King, South
Shore, McCarty, and Mitchell Parks. The Northwestern Mutual Foundation has generously
contributed $40,000 towards the project.
Helios Multigyms are made to withstand Wisconsin winters, and allow users to work out on
seven unique exercise stations designed into the structure:
• 45 degree back extension bench
• Abdominal crunch/sit-up bench
• Chin up bar (with chin assist function)
• Calf raise platform
• Triceps dip station (with dip assist function)
• Elevated push-up platform
• Cardio thigh squat station
Up to four people can exercise simultaneously, with all
major muscle groups are targeted by providing body
weight or assisted resistance training exercises.
For more information about Helios Multigyms, or to see a
video of the unit being used, visit www.outdoor-fit.com
to see Parks Director Sue Black explain the
installation along the lakefront and its benefits.
