The Park People of Milwaukee County have invited us to attend their annual gathering. Here is the invite. Please join us.
You and the members of your Friends Group, Park Watch, or Neighborhood Assn. are invited to the fourth annual Friends Group Gathering to be held on March 31st from 10am to Noon at Greenfield Park Pavilion, 2028 S. 124th Street.

The featured speaker will be Laurie Muench Albano, author of Milwaukee County Parks, Wisconsin (Images of America Series), which takes readers on a photographic tour of the area’s earliest parks–town squares and beer gardens established by the early settlers–through the creation of city and county park commissions, to our parks today. Laurie will speak about the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) and WPA (Works Progres Administration) and how their work shaped parts of the Milwaukee County Parks System.

Also present will be park system representatives Guy Smith, Chief of Operations, and Laura Scholesser, Chief of Administration and External Affairs, to talk about somewhat recent work rule changes that open the door to more volunteer opportunities in our parks.

Finally, Park People Board member, Robin Barry, will do a short talk on social networking and website development.

Please remember to pass this email on to your members and as always, it would be appreciated if you would RSVP tojim

I look forward to seeing you there,

Jim Goulee
